Sky and water-based resin: Breaking the deadlock in bicycle coating, leading a new trend in green and environmental protection.

Carbon fiber is a high-performance reinforced fiber material, and its use generally requires compounding with other materials to fully utilize its inherent properties. After numerous experimental tests, the main matrices for compounding carbon fiber are currently metals, ceramics, and resins. Mainstream carbon fiber composite products typically choose resin, especially epoxy resin, as the matrix. Below, Jiangsu Boshi Carbon Fiber Technology Co., Ltd. will introduce the advantages of using resin as the matrix for carbon fiber composite materials.

Currently, the carbon fiber composite materials based on resin are mostly thermosetting resins, such as epoxy, polyester, and phenolic resins. Additionally, thermoplastic materials can also be compounded, but their application is greatly limited by environmental conditions and they have poor temperature resistance. Thermosetting carbon fiber resin-based composites are widely used in aerospace, industry, and daily life. The reason lies in the numerous advantages that thermosetting resins have when combined with carbon fiber compared to other matrices.

1. The density of resin is low, and when compounded with carbon fiber, it can leverage the lightweight and low specific gravity advantages of carbon fiber itself. This is particularly important for components that require weight reduction and lightweight upgrades; resin-based carbon fiber composite materials must be used. Currently, most carbon fiber components in the aerospace, automotive, and sports equipment industries are resin-based.

2. The stability of product performance is a key standard for industrial utilization of a product. The performance of carbon fiber combined with resin is stable, with excellent high-temperature and low-temperature resistance. It can withstand extremely high temperatures in inert gases while maintaining good performance.

3. Carbon fiber resin-based composites are resistant to corrosion, salt spray, oil, and water; they have stable chemical properties and no toxic side effects, allowing them to exhibit the inherent performance advantages of carbon fiber in various environments.

4. Resin-based carbon fiber products have good wear resistance; their smooth surfaces can effectively reduce frictional stress during use. The numerous combinations of carbon fiber reinforcement interfaces also make carbon fiber composite products more wear-resistant and durable.

Currently, considering all factors, using resin as the matrix combined with carbon fiber bundles is the best choice. However, under different usage environments and performance requirements, adjustments can be made to the matrix and the selection or formulation of resins. There is still a long way to go in the research and exploration of carbon fiber composites; we welcome customers and experts to communicate and exchange ideas with us.
